Jasons Deli David CoxWell I have stopped being subtle with my photos.

I generally don’t intend to draw too much attention to myself in a public place just as a show of tact if nothing else. With this in mind, i have given up the path of tact.

Original 4 Star Review Is Here

There is nothing funnier then taking a surprised photo of people whos mind is somewhere else.

I pop the flash on the digital camera and watch the staff and customers look like Bugs Bunny just “mallet conked” them on the dome. After gathering up their bearing they realized some strange guy was leaning over the counter and taking photos of them. If they thought I was the health inspector, they can relax since they have a very clean restaurant always.

I noticed I had no good pictures of Jason’s Deli on WT Harris and David Cox Rd. Jason’s deli is a franhcise but has a non-franchise feel and look to the food. Huge sandwiches that look like streetside deli ruebens and roast beef make for great lunches and snacks.

I was doing this cool place for lunch a dis-service by not getting new photos for the people of this area curious about it.

The location in the plaza on David Cox is very central to those working on WT Harris in Wachovia. Swing in and grab sandwiches, wraps and soup done with a bit of “muscle” to them.

Jasons deli picsNo more lame Panaria mini-onion-and-sprout-sandwiches for you on your lunchbreak, no more starving during the ride home at 5pm cause you sandwich “wore-off”.

Go there, get a rueben try to finish the mountain of kraut, and schedule your bypass from all the meat.

Get nice thick stacked sandwiches wihtout that prepackaged subway feel to them in a nice clean, bilingual, professional and classic deli feel setting.

As you know, I dont do favors for local restaurants, and I am never spamverttising like some online sources of food insight. I call em as they are, and this franchise is pretty cool, very low-key, clean and hearty sized in its aproach.

Check out the original review here, and check out the new photos to get an idea of what is inside that corner location of Jason’s Deli.

I just discovered that this is a franchise situation as I had thought it a more local operation. I am more impressed knowing that. When your goal is a deli you are one of two things

1. A yuppie or cubicle worker looking for a handy light lunch that will not grease you up too badly for the rest of the day. A fresh somewhat healthy lunch to not weight you down.

Or

2. A meat loving Dagwood looking for a huge stacked sandwhich on bread that you just dont keep in your house, maybe a nice thick salad complete with eggs and ham on the side. Either of these people will be very pleased with Jasons Deli on David Cox.

This place has a huge menu of all basically the same base ingredients delivered on tons of good soft bread.

The choices like wraps and salads will make the “type 1 working folks” very happy with the light healthy lunch they find here. If you are buying M-F here you might feel some pain from the higher end deli prices you find here.

Expect you lunch to be 8$ and not the that you might hope for in a perfect world.” And for anyone not agreeing with these quoted prices, those people always quote the price of a 6? sandwich and a small coke.

NOBODY I respect wants a 6″ sub , so that doesnt apply here.

The prices are high-ish, but completely worht it since the very nice location requires higher rent I assume. For this reason i forgive them, and happily drop $9 for lunch to go.

Fresh salad bar, friendly staff in both english y espanol makes yet another nice friendly touch.

Now for you type 2 “starving people”
When you see the stacked sandwiches come out you will be in awe. The portions are huge, and the Rueben is so good. Basically a deli only has about two responsibilities with such simple food…
1. make it big and fresh
2. Be friendly and clean beyond this there really is no science to a Dagwood.

Jasons Deli on David Cox Rd succeeds on both of these facts, and scores bonus points for such huge portions and an excellent upscale clean sit down place.

If you are looking for a sit down lunch that is perfect for your girlfriend, boss, soccer team, mother, uncle Herb….whomever. Jason Deli hits on all aspects of what a deli should be, and provides a place you can sit and sip coffee after a monster Pastrami on rye. A nice yuppie clean place with huge sandwiches. 4/5 stars

430 East McCullough DriveCharlotte 28262Menu Features: Doc Greens, salads, sandwichesI went into doc Greens for a healthy salad and that is exactly what I got.
They have sandwhiches which are healthy for you. I went in for a grilled chicken salad that is exactly what I got.
I was impressed with what I had in it. Raspberry Vinagrette dressing was awesome.
I am trying to watch what I eat when I do decide to go out. It was enough salad for 2 people. they offered free water cups if you wanted to drink water.
Price was decent.
