Charlotte Critic has been going without updates and not getting alot of love this past 3 weeks. All the staff and contributors have ben off on other projects, vacation or jhust plain busy.
As the premier blog in Charlotte for food, and things that men agree on, we will not be going extinct anytime soon. We have lost our main Chef on Staff David Scott to family related obligations and just building his own website and his own personal cooking projects. We will get back up to date on this soon.
Our webmaster has been actively helping a local friend Mike Kraft as they develope their own blog and news site for Charlotte and US politics at www.Charlotteconservative.com. Mr. Kraft has a good base of writers and has experience as a GOP blogger. We hope our readers head over and check out his common sense views.
And lastly our main editor has a second child and has ben overrun with the fun and obligations of being a father for the second time.

We dont generally get away from the normal food and good times on the weekends but we feel it is called for this time.
I admit that www.crimeincharlotte.com, good friends of ours on the web, put this story into the best detail and inspired us to break the normal genre of topics here at Charlottecritic.
“Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers & Sergeants who have been on the force for over ten years have not received a raise in 9 years! CMPD Officers are paid 8% below national average even though they assume more risk than other cities. However, year after year, the City Manager and City Council members deny the police and firefighters’ request for a raise.”
If you look here you can get a better idea of just how bad it has gotten with Charlotte ranking at 175th out of 200 cities nationwide.
I am not an expert on 200 seperate cities, but I would wager a safe guess that Charlotte is much riskier than many of them for the poilce.
If for no other reason but simple risk assessment this should warrant a higher paycheck to those willing to do this job.
But more than this reason, Charlotte wants to pretend it is a “world-class” city, then it needs to make its mark and attract the best police to help run it with high pay scales and higher standards of living for them.
We need to offer the best off duty standard of living to draw in the brightest cops from the US. We are willing to pay big bucks to bring tech companies to the Carolinas, so why do we neglect a much more important role of the police officer.
I found an online petition here.
Online petition to get our CMPD a pay raise.
Please take the time to help this site above out and get the police the standard of living that shows our appreciation to them. Also send the message that Charlotte puts our police as a front priority in becoming a “world class” place to call home.

This is not about Jeff, this is not only about Sean Clark and Jeffrey Shelton, this is about letting your respect and feelings be know toward people who wake up everyday willing to make your neighborhod better and family safer.
This is about being thankful for officers and their families for having the highest character on our behalf.
It matters, and it is not much to ask for the service we receive.
Jeff honored CMPD and all folks that work in law enforcement and for low wages and high risks give to us the safety that is uniquely American. This weekend two CMPD police officers where killed in the line of duty in a cowardly act of ignorant violence.
The two brave officers were husbands and a Father of 2, both described as family men who’s goal was to better the City.
Police officers leave the house everydayto be away from their families and enter some uncertainity.
Uncertainty is one of the scariest feeling a person must confront, and they put themselves, and those they love most, through these feelings every day to better the community.
A sad side note to this story is that the CMPD is 8% below the average in pay for city police nationwide. Read more here at crimeincharlotte.com.
My sister serves as a Deputy serving the jail system in NY, she has wanted to move to Charlotte and transfer to the CMPD, but the drop in pay would be around 14,000 per year.
In light of the increased danger in our growing city I hope this incident serves to better thank the CMPD with a better salary for their families.
“Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers & Sergeants who have been on the force for over ten years have not received a raise in 9 years! CMPD Officers are paid 8% below national average even though they assume more risk than most other cities. However, year after year, the City Manager and City Council members deny the police and firefighters’ request for a raise.”
I Learned Early
Since I was a teenager I have always wished safety to every police officer I have passed. “Be safe” I have said to every cop grabbing a drink at a gas station or walking on the street and being friendly.
I have 2 Siblings in the Sheriff’s department, and both have become better people from the atmosphere of reverence and respect for people that police are taught.
While no human is perfect, and no police department completely void of being human, ours here in the US as a whole is on the highest level of honesty and determination for a better neighborhood. Even more so than teachers, which is often a topic of conversation for raises, police are deserving of a good standard of living when off duty, I hope this comes to light with the tragic news.
Last night from 3pm to 6pm Jeff Katz put the show and AM airwaves on lock down to pay homage to the CMPD, and to a profession that we not always see, but we always reap the rewards from.
Jeff called for the city to come together on the one fact that our men in uniform deserve respect. We need to recognize these men and women work for our safety above all else, and often make a sacrifice that should be honored every time you walk past or see an officer in the street.
While all other issues and politics set us ablaze and apart, this is an issue that we need to not discuss, we must make it a matter of our everyday consideration.
Thank you to the police, thank you for being as good as you are, thank you to your families for allowing them to leave the house every morning for the betterment of our city.
Also, a thanks to Jeff Katz for seeming whole-heartedly sincere and almost at breaking down in his sentiment for the families and officers.
In all fields and lifestyles there is an inside knowledge that can only be obtained through experience. There is a brotherhood that cannot be truly commented on without living it for a time. (Jeff served on the Philadelphia Housing Police Force)
In my first face to face meeting with Jeff it was truly a hard way to shake hands for the first time, but it was truly a human moment. I am glad such a strong message and honest sentiment was being delivered by a messenger that gets it.
Jeff has done his part to call the city to attention. Please find blue ribbon string and anything else you can tie, and tie it to every branch, antenna and pole in the city.
Let the police know you agree they are the highest form of American. Let the CMDP know you respect them and thank them for their service.
The two officers were shot late Saturday during a struggle outside an apartment complex where they had gone to investigate a domestic disturbance report and died early Sunday.
Sean Clark, 34, and Jeffrey Shelton, 35, were the first officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg department fatally shot in the line of duty in more than a decade.
“Charlotte is in mourning along with two families,” Mayor Pat McGrory said late Sunday. The mayor said the killing was “a brutal and senseless act.”
Police Chief Darrel Stephens said the two officers were responding to a disturbance call around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night at the apartment complex in east Charlotte. They were shot around 11:15 p.m. in the parking lot during a struggle. Neither fired their weapon, Stephens said.

So I listened today to Scott Fowler discussing the Panthers on Keith Larson this morning. The two agreed that Scott is an expert on the subjects of the Tarheels, Panthers and Charlotte sports as a whole.
Scott touched on some subjects that suggest maybe John Fox was at the end of fan patience. He implied the fans love him and the Panther’s have been greatly successful in winning the fan base and the hearts and minds of Charlotte, but it was time to produce with the product.
As you see months ago I had already come to this conclusion.
Here I was pointing out it was already time to start balming Fox.
Scott pointed out that a 3-13, 4-12 season could mean the end of John Fox.
How do you spell “Duhhh” ?
This seemed like saying the “sky is blue”.
Firstly, if Carolina was to have a 3-13 season that would perhaps mark the most dissappointing season for a team in decades, I don’t see Carolina possibly winning less than 6 games. This was a pretty silly comment because it is such an obvious comment. I dont believe Fox should be surviving 8-8 seasons in this weak NFC conference, so a 3 or 4 win season is just plain silly to think is possible.
If Carolina goes 8-8 or less this season without a reason such as major injury to Steve Smith or Delhomme for most of the season, then Fox needs to go.
I would hope he would leave on his own as better coaches have done in the past. A true show of football knowledge would be to know when even your own system can’t get it done, or that you have stopped invoking emotion in your players on a personal level.
Marty Schottenheimer just lost a job after a 14 win season, becuase you measure success based on the product you produce from the parts you are given.
Fox has far too much personel to miss the playoffs again, I would hate to see great careers like Smith’s languish further under possible coaching stagnancy.
The fact is I know football far beyond the limits of the normal armchair wannabe quarterback. Scott mentioned that Carolina has two of the top 10- players in the league in Peppers and Steve Smith. I agree with this statement, clearly the top 15 players, likely top 10 is a fair statement.
The fact is the Panthers outcome has been the number one disappointment in the entire league this past year.
Carolina was considered the 2nd or 3rd most likely champion coming into 2006 behind only San Diego and maybe Indy. Carolina had essentially played their way out of the playoffs by week 11. They only had a decent chance of the playoffs late in the season due to the embarrassingly bad NFC conference.
Position by position, Carolina is one of the top 8 teams in terms of talent. Injury excuses are just not acceptable since New England did alot more with much less. New England, whom is my mortal enemy as a Bills fan, had almost no receiving core and riddled with defensive injuries and still proved to play like a top 5 team.
The true weakness with Carolina is that they are weakest at the most crucial points. They have a quarterback that is prone to mistakes at the most innopportune times, and they apparently have a coach that is so stuck on a weak game plan that he allows his team to fail almost weekly. I believe Fox’s Slow moving game plans leave other teams within striking distance and leave the door open for Jake to make the one “error” that Sinks the Panthers in the 4rth Quarter of many games.
I believe Carolina lost ‘6′ 4rth quarter leads last year? That is a statistic that should get a coach fired immediately.
Even the great hall of famer Don Shula eventually had nothing else to offer his team in Miami and had to move on so thee team could win.
When you dont invoke emotion in your players, then you game plans will never be enough.
A coach that has a telented team and not the mentality that team’s attributes require will be doomed to be out of its element.
With a great open field back, a great deep threat and two receivers that can go over the middle on short fast routes, Carolina may be better suited for a west coast offense that fox isnt providing. Im not offering this as an answer, just an example of what may be the mismatch.
I wish the best to talented teams like Carolina. Im a Bills fan, but respect the Panthers in all their talent and history of being defensive fighters. The games with Tampa were groundbreaking games for the Carolina sports fans, and defined Carolina as a great and scrappy team. The issue seems to be that the team has an identity, and the coach no longer has the ability to channel it into a concentrated effort or game plan.

I didnt even know people still gave respect to 311, but this reverse video shot by UNCC student is just too cool when mixed ith the underrated smooth style of 3/11.
I had the great honor of seeing 311 live at the Metropole in Pittsburgh, PA many years ago in my youth. The funny twist to this story is that 311 was the headline band that night and rocked us almost deaf the next day, but the opening band was more of the story now that we look back.
The opening act for 311 that day was a smalltime somewhat unknown band called KORN. Without having to say more, we got our money’s worth that night. We later had to stay the night in Pittsburgh because 14 inches of snow fell while in the concert and it was more than our Miata could handle.
What makes this news on our site?
I am gonna keep plugging away till we get some on the scene students to take over covering UNCC stories for us or sending whatever is cool and a worthy read for other students.
Enjoy this.
Enjoy.

“BET.com is an affiliate of Black Entertainment Television. The project studied 22 cities across the U.S. and ranked them based on criteria such as economics, education and crime.
According to the Web site, Charlotte stood out because it has a “burgeoning black middle class,” low cost of living, high homeownership rates among blacks, low black poverty rate, proximity to quality colleges and universities, thriving nightlife among other areas.”
“Research showed the Worst City for Black Americans was Cleveland, Ohio. ”
Requoted from Charlotte.com
You can read more details on why Charlotte is not just another Atlanta, Charlotte is the place for black folks to be to own a home and get a good paying professional position.
With almost 35% black population in the Charlotte metro and a City population of over 600K people (2,000,000 areawide), Charlotte has more opportunity and family appeal for all peopel all colors all makes and models of good folks.
Now for my personal bit.
I have moved around a bit, been a New Yorker and a Floridian for much of my life and can honestly say that nothing has “rung as true” as Charlotte is just plain friendly.
I have had more conversations and friendly chats with toal strangers of all races, creeds and colors since getting to Charlotte than anywhere else I have been. There is a cliche saying “Souther Hospitality”, but it honestly is not an understatement for my time Here in Charlotte.
All divisions aside Charlotte may be a great place for Clack Americans looking for opportunity and homeownership, but the truth is that Charlotte is aplace that offers many forms of welcome for people of all backgrounds.
I am happy to be a part of this social friendly environment, and happy to know I will be staying.

Good for Sue Myrick and good for us all.
In this trend of selling out the interests of US Citizens, Myrick does what is right for the country and right for the voters even when its not the popular thing to do. Myrick says what is right and shows personal integrity above personal gain or political positioning.
Integrity is standing up in the face of lost popularity.
Integrity is respecting the office of United States President, even if not the man.
An elected official is worth their public opinion. Popular seems to have long outweighed what is right in this modern day popularity and “no integrity” contest which is elected office.
So that my Opinion of George W Bush is out there, and never again needed to be explained.
I dont think hes a good president, I dont think hes the thinker and man of passion that we need in the office during a hard time.
I do think Mr Bush is very likely a great guy. I think there is a good chance that if he was on your couch spending the night with your family you would come away thinking he was a very American and fun person, I think you would find him funny and down to earth. I like Bush when he is in a baseball cap and pickup speaking with no worry of press spin. I dont though after saying all this think he is a strong leader. So for the final record, I like him personally and he sems like a real fun down to earth man, but he isnt a strong leader at a time when we neded one.
Back to the point of the rant.
Myrick respected the office of president by showing support for what is right as opposed to distancing herself for her own popular gain.
I support the troops, and the head troop is the president. If you feel the cause is wrong you need to dicuss problems with motivation and not problems with what has already been done.
I watched a live video the other day of Hillary Clinton, a person that has done everything in her career only with the purpose of furthering her own career.
This live video showed her saying “If I was president in 2002 I would have not gone to war”.
I also watched a live video on Glenn Beck the other night of Hillary standing at the podium casting her ballet in 2002. She grandstanded for her own gain and announced “I fully support this decision for war!”
I THEN, watched a video from about one month ago where a reporter asked her if she would admit that she did vote FOR the war, and did she feel now it was a mistake and she has changed her mind.
She responded “If I knew then what I know now, I would have never voted for war”. I think a 10 year old knows hind site is 20/20, and even Bush may not have if he knew the fallout he has gotten from it. To stand on TV running for president and speak from hindsight instead of admitting you made the exact same mistake in judgement as the president is juvinille. What is worse than making a mistake, is being a hypocrit about it, and then compound this with pretending you knew better when you are on tape claimning to fully support the war.
I can better stomach and forgive poor decisions, if thats what you feel Bush has made, but there is no forgiving calculated lies with the intention of getting a personal career advance.
Flip flopping is the right of all people as information changes, but doing so just to be popular and not to be right is a shameful act of a person with no integrity.
So today the Congress voted on a non-binding resolution.
Non binding (Meaningless) & resolution (non law non anything).
Today the congres voted for nothing just to grandstand themselves and try to absolve themselves of responsibility of war. As our future president Rudy Giuliani said to Larry King, “we dont pay them to comment we pay them to make decisions”.
I am only sorry my own job doesn’t allow me to “pretend-work”, and state that it is just pretend work, and then collect a check for accomplishing what I admit is nothing.
Sue Myrick said what we are all thinking durting a time whn I think no elected official has any idea what the american population is thinking.
“This is not a Democrat and Republican issue - our security is an American issue,” said N.C. Rep. Sue Myrick, R-9th. “It’s downright irresponsible to tell out troops that we support you, but we don’t support the mission that you are fighting.”
Source: Winston Salem Journal
But this is what happened to day. The congress stood up and did nothing, got paid more than you or I to do nothing, and even called it nothing with the name “non binding resolution”.
Long gone are the days of the working class or on the street style elected official.
Or are they gone?
I think a real slap you on the back man who we can respect for they way he is in the morning with bed head, and the way he is at night watching stupid american television and laughing with friends. I may have to inspect a bit closer but so far I really like the feeling I get when I listen to the frank tone and honest working class speech of Rudy Giuliani.
While we see elected officials cower in fear of their jobs and the marketability of their careers, I am glad to have someone here in the Charlotte area like Sue Myrick who once again said what we take as common sense. Doing this seems like what we all hope an elected official will do on our behalf.
Unpopular but correct issue #2: Immigration
While we have our best interests sold out by most politicians so they can get in on the vote grab of the future, Myrick again does what is right.
Instead of trying to offer some form of Voter status to illigals so you can then use them to keep your job or better your parties voter base, Myrick does what is right which is to enforce the law.
Abraham Lincoln said “Any law, no matter how unjust, MUST be enforced until the time at which it is changed.” (looseley quoted).
As NC is now the state with the second highest illegal population in the country and we are not even a border state, it can only be bad policy that is so attrcactive. Myrick is leading the charge to enforce the law while the rest of our 6-figure salary representatives and chasing only votes.
“Rep. Sue Myrick, a Republican whose congressional district encompasses Charlotte, is a big supporter of the 287(g) program and a staunch advocate of tougher immigration enforcement.
Myrick met in early January with border agent Jose Alonso Compean, who was set to begin a 12-year prison sentence for shooting an undocumented immigrant who was reportedly attempting to smuggle hundreds of pounds of marijuana into the country. Myrick called the government “un-American” for turning its back on Compean and a colleague, men who, she said, “put their lives on the line for our country.”
I am innagurating and kicking off the politics section of our news blog with a post to honor Sue Myrick for doing what is hard but correct in the issues that affect us all.
I also giving the Nod to Rudy for speaking the way we want to be spoken to at a time when doubletalk just leaves such a rotten taste in the voters mouths.
I am starving for some honest and integrity, and I think we have a great example here in Charlotte with Myrick, and we will have an example of a real man’s-man in office in 2008.
As of right now, you can see a link on our site to Rudy’s website, and to Sues website. I wont put any red or blue on our site because parties warp more than they fix. I feel parties only ruin the beliefs of many people that start out as dirty elbowed americans by making them conform to a party line of group thinking. I am happy to see a few of these politicians that have kept a slight sense of touch with the people that employ them.
If a “D or an R” does the right thing, I will salute them accordingly.

UNC 79 - DUKE 73
USA 2 - Mexico 0
Oh such a dilema, I knew there was a great sporting event on at 9pm but which was it. On one hand I first saw US playing against Mexico in Phoenix Arizona in what is called a “friendly”. This is a scrimmage essentially, and an exhibition marketing need of the game of soccer.
All over the world these “friendlies” are happenin, and at 9 Last night was ours. It was apparently a “nuetral field game” being that it was played in Arizona.
Well as I know nobody but me cares about soccer o futbol, Ill just cut to the end. USA was clearly the more determined and faster of the two teams and won handily 2-0 with both goals in the second half. The funny moment was the second US goal was assisted by a referee that couldnt get out of the way of a pass and caused an untimely turnover to the US which became a goal 5 seconds later. Mexico has a new coach after the former coach (the guy smoking cigerettes on the sideline), called it quits after a poor World Cup.
Well, most of my night was back and forth between the channels, and although soccer doesnt have timeouts, the lags in action are so long that a person can easily wacth the second half of the DUKE - UNC battle and not miss a pass.
So the crazies had ben camping for days in the parking lot waiting to get in and inspire Duke not to lose a third in a row. Duke has dropped 2 comference games in a row now, and this owuld make 3….err this did make three. First time since 1998 I believe?
I dont get involved in the DUKE - UNC thing, as I dont have thick enough North Carolina credentials to sepreate the two. I am well aware of the history, the players and the games in the past, but best I don’t get two involved.
If I had to choose, I go UNC no doubt. I like the players from UNC far more like Jamison, Sean May and an obvious choice of the king, Michael Jordan.
On the flip side, I did always like the play of Shaner Battier as well, he always reminded me of Pippen while at the college level.
Last night UNC ranked #5 was the marathon runner and Duke #16 was the sprinter. The game unfortunately for Duke was a 26 mile affair.
Duke led most the game, until 62-60 when UNC took control. Duke had foul trouble fast with McRoberts getting to 4 fouls and having to actually come back in and play with 4 fouls at the 8 minutes left mark. Being in the game with 4 fouls can be worse than being ont he bench since you pose no shot blocking threat when backing away.
I will say McRoberts did staill play good interior defense wih the 4 fouls.
The best player on the floor, Tyler Hansbrough was not much of an inside factor throughout the game. I thought he looked hurried in a game that was clearly played on speed.
The breakneck pace of every player on the floor was obvious, and I think Tyler wanted to play at a normal pace when he had the ball. This is the right thing since a post player shouldnt rush it, but so many hands flying around and actively denying the post position that he never looked comfortable down low.
Hansbrough did hit some 10-16 footers and make his mark slowly and surely by hitting all his freethows down the stretch.
UNC showed off its depth of talent and athleticism with a great game from Brandan Wright who scored 19 and grabbed most of the defensive rebounds all game. It was Wright’s inside presence on defense and not Hansburough’s that proved to be a problem on the glass for Duke.
In the clutch it was Rookie Ty Lawson who ended with 15 points and broke down the defense with drives in the last 5 minutes of play. Lawson converted an old fashion 3 point play that was total Sportscenter stuff that sealed the deal at 70-63.
He went total animal into the camera, it was too cool for UNC fans.
Here are the game stats from last night
Late in the game the Duke players needed a bench to help out, and they didnt have one. The UNC depth and speed to the loose balls was going to be too much, just a matter of time.
The real issue in the end may have ben freethrows.
Duke went 3 of 10 in the second half from the line. This poor freethrow shooting included a total jinx on Duke’s Scheyer who had hit 40 free throws in a row (JINX) just to miss 2 out of 3 after they said it on the air.
He went on to miss another after that too I believe.
The game was a 1-2 point difference and Duke missed 4 of 6 at one stretch. This really added fuel to the fire of the slow collapse.
The sped of this game was intense, and it was another installment in the border war in Raleigh.

Well it has been a hectic week for Charlottecritic.com, but we send sincere thanks to everyone connected to our success and those who have done us the honor of reading our ramblings and unguided inarticulate rantings on local Charlotte stuff.
We are happy to show off a bit of love form readers of our site. We can be seen on Johnson and Wales University website, naming us as Charlotte’s Food Critic. We dont claim to be this much, but happy to eat and offer our opinion.
We can be seen on Charlotte radio website from WBT 1110 Am discussing our recent raves for the braodcasting schedule and educated talk hosts they feature including Jeff Katz and John Hancock (pick your flavor).
And lastly you can always see your reviews featured in the ChefMOZ directory of restaurants which is owned and operated by Netscape, and a part of the DMOZ project. We are volunteer editors for the chefMOZ, and for this reason our reviews can be attached to the many local restaurant listings.
Our traffic has gone up steadily to well over 15,000 hits a month, which isn’t reinventing the wheel, but that was never our goal.
We say thank you to the 500+ newsletter subscribers, we say thank you again to the 250,000 visitors to the pages of our website. We feel more inclined to “snap off at the mouth”, when we think it is being heard.
We are always looking for a blogger to take on the task of breaking down the bobcats, and we hope to find a local news and politics blogger or two to offer a “semi-biased: view about town.

If your not an informed Charlotte local then there is still time for you to be saved.
We have some interesting ying and yang on the radio here in Charlotte.
Since relocating here years back I immediately noticed the god-awful radio we have on FM.
I had lived in NY and Florida both and used to enjoy stations that could be listened to by someone outside of future NASCAR hopefuls.
If you are in the mood for “classic rock” then Charlotte has not only good stations, but 10 to choose from all playing Freebird and Dashboard light every 3 hours!
(Im not knocking those two songs, as they are classics that more hip hop marketing fans should get to know, but every channel?)
Just when you thought there was nothing but country and classic rock, the stations seem to followup Freebird with Justin Timbelake “sexy back” which again emphasizes just how much they suck. Again, this is a good song but the station cant seem to feel its way around sucking to find a decent days programming that melds.
Now, in a desperate panick of pounding on the keys till good music comes out of my radio there is the AM/FM button. This relic from the 1980’s still does what it was designed to do and swithes to the mostly talk and news side of the dial broadcast in Amplitude Modulation. I think if my brain serves me this means AM varies the “height” of the waves and not the distance between peaks of the waves or “width”.
Well AM in Charlotte has a bit more to offer, or better put, has alot to offer. if you have fallen behind in your latest “terror updates” on CNN Infotainment station during the night, you canlisten to real talk and insight on 1110 AM.
I never really knew where I stand in my beliefs so as to give it a name. I feel strongly on all major issues as should every good informed American, but I never sorted out the “labels” and what I exactly was.
I am still not sure, but as I agree with much of what Talk show host Jeff Katz discusses and his opinions shared, I think that makes me a mild Rpublican Conservative? (correct me if im wrong, but labels dont matter)
Charlotte is treated to an excellent days worth of AM broadcaster, better than I have heard anywhere in the past.
I have been a listner of talk radio for over 24 years (yes since I was in my single digits). I think the lineup I now enjoy when in my car here in Charlotte is by far the best informed, most entertaining and most enlightning to actual fact that seems to get white-noised out with the infotainment garbage on CNN lately.

Jeff Katz
http://www.wbt.com/katz/index.cfm
You can check out Jeff’s Site at
http://www.radiokatz.com/
Jeff Katz broadcasts from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays in Charlotte on 1110AM. Jeff Katz is very entertaining, informed, passionate to the point of a “bit angry” and addictive behavior to listen in on.
Again, I am a lifelong listener of radio, and I am a critic of all I see, so I will add he has a few quirks that dont sit well with me. I hope my praise and opinion hold a bit extra weight as I am more than a casual listner, and more of the obbsessive-complusive type that keeps AM radio alive.
For me, Jeff may be a bit quick with his audience members that dont agree with him. I believe him to generally be right in his logical views, but I think he would be better served to let the fools put their own feet further into their mouths. The true way to showcase ignorance is to let it speak, and frankly those calling in to oppose his views on illegal immigration or dealing with fundamentalists can only hurt their cases by being allowed to speak.
From Jeff’s Bio:
“Jeff Katz is a native of Philadelphia where he cut his teeth in politics at the tender age of twelve. Jeff worked as a police officer in Philadelphia’s rough and tumble public housing projects before trading in his badge for a microphone.
Jeff has hosted award winning talk shows in Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Boston, San Francisco and since August 2006 at WBT AM & FM in Charlotte.
Jeff sits on the Board of Directors of the American Jewish Committee and the Republican Jewish Coalition, as well as Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation. In addition he has served as the Vice-Chairman of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities and as a court appointed special advocate for children in the superior court system.”
If ever this falls on the eyes of Jeff, I thank you for the time and your voice saying what I often have the urge but not the platform to say. I am certain there are millions of people with the insight to think the things that need to be said, and there are hundreds that have the platform to do it.
I an sure there are many like yourself that have both of these two things.
I am not making you a one in a million Mr. Katz,…
but you are another small piece of Charlotte that more people need to be aware we got very lucky to have.
