Two women kidnapped from church, robbed
Two women were kidnapped at gunpoint from a Statesville church and robbed Thursday afternoon.

Not much change in Iredell’s unemployment rate
Unemployment dropped from 12.7 percent in October to 12.6 percent in November, according to the latest statistics released by the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina. The rate in Iredell and 30 other counties across North Carolina went down.

No more lighting up when you’re eating out
Starting Saturday in North Carolina — where tobacco was once king — Eric Althof can no longer fire up his Camel cigarettes while eating out or drinking with friends. A new law takes effect imposing a fine of up to $50 for smoking inside bars and restaurants and $200 for business owners who permit smoking.

West, Statesville to meet on the mats Tuesday
Statesville and West Iredell will wrestle each other for the second time this season Tuesday.
