Azteca Mexican Restaurant
Azteca Northlake is tucked away so that only after 3 or 4 visits can you find it. The short version is that it is on the East side of 77 looking over at the Northlake mall on the west side. Azteca is the second best Mexican food we’ve had in Charlotte, but has strong value, decor and service. Its the best choice for more affordable sit down dining.
Azteca has high ceilings, great colors and decor and beautiful artwork throughout. Azteca has mariachi music many nights as well.
Our favorite part of Azteca aside form the food is that the owner is there every single time we have gone. I would guess this large place to have 30+ employees on site on most nights and one of them is always the owner. The owner visits our table ofter to see if everything is going well. The staff always seems on their toes with him around so the service seems very well managed because of this fact.
The food at the Azteca is large and economical. For the same price of a smaller plate of food other places you get more here. Normal plates are about $8 to $13 which is enough to fill any diner. The size of the portions is amazing on almost every order and the quality it corner to corner on the plate.
By this I mean the plate is not filled with rice or refried beans to fill the space. The plate will have a burrito the size of your arm covered in cheese and sauces that always leave me dipping chips. On that side note, the chips are hot and fresh made as well.
If you go in before 3pm to get lunch prices you can really max out this value. The lunch portions will stuff most anyone as well, and do it for uunder $10 almost everytime.
I recommend this place for casual dates, guys or college students looking to pound large amounts, or weekend lunch where you will have time to sleep it off.
